Default Looking at Nortons Ghost for imaging our lab/public access computers.

I'm about to purchase Nortons Ghost to make images of our lab computers and eventually our public access computers. I'm just opening this question to see if anyone has any advice to pass on to me.

We have 9 machines in the lab. The server I want to save the images to is plently fast and has plenty of space. The workstations would be typical except we are doing a dual boot situation. Windows XP/Office 2003 and Windows Vista/Office 2007. I've called my sales rep but haven't heard back about licensing issues.

I'm wondering if I'll need a license for each OS or each computer? Is Nortons Ghost 10 the version I need? or is there a corporate version for backing up over the network?

When I'm complete I should have 43 machines ghosted. Many of which are the exact same setup. I've never used Ghost but I've heard quite a bit about it in the past. Am I able to install the software on one machine then ghost it to the rest of the machines if they are exact? How do I manage the SID? computer name? joining the network?

Since this could be a fairly expensive venture I'll post 500 points for helping. I'm also willing to hear about competting products.

43 images....yikes. I personally use Ghost. I have one image for Desktops, one for laptops, one for tablets. Look into sysprep which will resolve your SSID issue and naming issue.

As far as I am concerned you just have to have one ghost license per machine.

Sysprep
How to use the Sysprep tool to automate successful deployment of Windows XP
