Outlook Error 0x8004011d using RPC

I have an external user who gets his e-mails via Outlook using RPC. It was working until last night. He is using Outlook 2003 on Vista Business. He gets an error every time 0x8004011d server not available.
He can get his e-mails on Outlook Web Access.
I've checked the hosts file, there's no reference to the mail server.
I've created a new profile (didn't want to delete the existing one in case I couldn't get his e-mails back.) but the same thing happened.
I tried stopping the Send Immeadiately when connected in Options and Mail setup and then connecting after Oultook was open (I found that on the Microsoft site) and it didn't work.
Can anybody help? Thank you very much!

I have a solution. Install the certificate from the server into Trusted Root Certification Authorities on the laptop. Outlook is working fine with RPC over https.
