Adding 2 gig of RAM to speed up Vista, slowed down Remote Desktop. How can I speed it

However, even on the old configuration, Remote Destop was very usable. Adding the extra memory has made it totally unusable!!! It takes twice as long to get to the remote machine; when typing, text does not show up on screen for 10-20 seconds, clicking on any action items gives a similar delay, and it is just a nightmare compared to what it was before. It is beyond my powers of logic as to how adding 4 times the memory can make any functionality 4 times worse, but it has done that to Remot Desktop?! Any Help would be most appreciated! |

Yes, removing the single 512mb module should cause the system to switch to dual channel mode (I would definitely do that). Everest is indeed a very nice utility :-) It's certainly perplexing why your system runs SLOWER with the increased memory ... do you get the same result if you remove that 512mb module?? ... and Yes, I'd think it would run quite nicely with XP. |
