Microsoft has released a bug fix for Internet Explorer 7 that corrects the issue that caused websites to bog down, sometimes to snail like speeds when loading.
The filter, which comes turned on by default in Internet Explorer 7, is the cause of headaches and annoyance to many who use the latest offering to the browser market from Microsoft in five years.
Just how well Microsoft’s filter protects users is unknown as many have turned it off because of the slowdowns it caused, and because it blocks several well-known sites. The biggest of which was Google when Internet Explorer 7 was in Beta stages.
Other browsers are offering Phishing filters as well in the browser ‘war on cyber crime’. Firefox 2.0 comes with a filter, and users can choose how the browser will check to see if the site is legit.
Opera today added its own Phishing filter, and while it may share just 1% of the overall browser market, the addition of the filter to Opera shows that even the smaller browsers are working protect users online.
