I have a Vista Ultimate machine that I recently joined to a SBS 2003 domain. The PC gets turned on and used, but then left idle for hours at a time. I wish to set it to sleep after 1 hour. Problem is, when you go under the Power Management, it shows [On battery] and you can change Monitor Off and Sleep after x number of minutes, but for [Plugged in] it only allows you to change the monitor, the Sleep is grayed out. Up top there is a hyperlink that says "Why can't I change some settings?" When you click on that it takes you to a Windows Help and Support that states
"If your computer is part of a network at an organization such as a school, government agency, or a business, your organization's system administrator might have disabled or even removed certain settings by using Group Policy. Group Policy is a feature of Windows that lets system administrators manage users' access to Windows features. If you suspect that Group Policy is preventing you from changing a setting that you need to access, contact your system administrator."
I can't find a Group Policy anywhere on the Domain controller that interferes with Power Management at all, does anyone know where I might find a way to change this setting"
