Have HP Pavillion dv2645us laptop with 2gb ram and dual core processor running Vista
Home Premium. I have run into a problem with upgrading the BIOS and HP support has been
totally inept and useless in getting the problem resolved. I have had two different chat
sessions with them over the past 4 days and am still no where. They have sent me
all kinds of links to the BIOS but none of them resolve my problem

When I purchased the system it had version F14 BIOS I upgraded to F15 BIOS without
any problems a few days after I purchased the unit, back in March. Since then HP has
come out with two BIOS updates, one which is applicable to my system. Every time
I execute the self contained flash utility/update it starts out fine showing the initial
screen and then the license screen. After accepting the license instead of actually
doing the BIOS update, the system opens up Notepad and displays non readable
characters on the screen. There is no error message of any kind. In fact I cannot even
reinstall the current F15 BIOS that is already on the system.

make yourself a boot floppy or usb stick and then execute the bios update from the boot disk. Bootdisk.Com always safer to update outside of the operating system
