Intel core 2 duo e6600 2.40ghz windows vista business 4gb samsung pc2-5300 (333mhz) ram 160gb h/d ati radeon x1300 pro PCIe 256mb dvi when I ran cpu-z v1.4 the core speed is showing 1594.9mhz ,multiplier x6.0, bus speed 265.8mhz, rated fsb 1063.2mhz. So my question is why does the cpu appear to be running below 2.4ghz?? how can i correct this? |

You might have Speedstep (similar to AMD's Cool'n'Quiet) active, which throttles down the CPU speed when it's not being ised. Run a cpu intensive program, like a 3D game, or CPU stress program (prime95 or any other) and check the cpu speed during that activity. |
