The following is a summary of just some of the new features and improvements found in Windows Vista.Faster Installation
The install process for Windows Vista has been significantly streamlined. On most systems, it is expected to install significantly faster than Windows XP.
Parental Controls
Windows Vista features a variety of parental controls and options to restrict content in order to protect children. Create detailed activity reports and block access to restrict programs and applications to protect your kids. Block games based on ESRB gaming ratings.
Image Installations
Additional options for people and businesses who need to include drivers in a slipstream and custom installation Windows Vista.
Virtual folders
Windows Vista comes with support for virtual folders. Let the operating system search for all your music files automatically, and place them in a virtual folder. Full support for this new and innovative technology is included.
WinSAT: Windows Assessment Tool
Improve performance for games and processor intensive applications with the Windows Assessment Tool. It will be included in Ultimate Edition versions of Windows Vista.
Windows Aero
An improvement to Windows Shell and the entire GUI of the operating system. A new look for the Windows desktop, Windows Aero includes full transparency effects and a significant amount of eye candy which are intended to make navigating the operating system much easier and more powerful.
Improved Search Functionality
An improved search engine built into the operating system for finding important files and documents. Search is now built into the Start Menu and other areas of the OS.

Windows Mail
Outlook Express is replaced by Windows Mail in the new Windows Vista operating system. It will include better reliability, instantaneous search, a phishing filter, and improved junk mail filtering.
Windows Update
Windows Update is now fully integrated into the operating system. Download the updates from a single location in your Control Panel or set the updates to occur automatically. In previous versions of Windows, updating required visiting the Microsoft Windows Update website.

Windows will now manage your applications faster and pre-fetch information based on your usage habits. When you use the same programs frequently, Windows will adapt to your usage habits and use this information to speed up performance.

You can now use USB drives as system memory in Windows Vista. Improve system performance on the go and conveniently with Windows Vista powered laptops.

Hybrid hard drives with built-in flash memory will increase the life of your hard drive, as well as provide major performance improvements and better boot and shutdown times.
Windows Sidebar
Provides quick and efficient access to various gadgets such as weather and games to help streamline the process of getting the information you're looking for.
Speech Recognition
New speech recognition technology has been optimized in Windows Vista. Advanced control of applications by voice, whether its opening a program or an e-mail.
