-Windows Vista clients are students PCs not connected to our domain but are authenticating to the print server via their Active Directory user accounts through digest authentication on IIS. -Staff Vista PCs that are on the domain have no problem installing IPP printers on the same print server -Student XP PCs not connected to the domain are able to install IPP printers just fine on the same print server -We have tried unchecking Protected Mode from the Local Intranet Security setting in IE7 before trying to install the IPP printer, but got the same error. We did get the IPP printer installation to work on 1 PC after doing this, but it failed on other PCs as well as the same PC after deleting the printer, rebooting and trying to install again. -Student PCs are able to successfully install a printer by connecting to the the server and the printer share name. \\printserver\printersharename However, this is not an ideal solution as the user will need to re-authenticate to the print server before they can print after shutting down or logging out. |

Printing on the Wireless Network with Windows 10. Choose Select a shared printer by name. 11. Type the complete name of the printer you want to connect to i.e. http://iprint.ubalt.edu/printers/LABAC103A/.printer Have you done it this way? Their Windows 2000 instructions reference connecting to the print server to get a list of printers ... since the instructions are different for VISTA I presume the way they are doing it for Windows 2000 does not work for VISTA ... and it sound slike this is how you are trying to do it. |
