Default Adding a Vista PC to my Existing Win XP Network

I can't access any computers on my network from new Vista computer, and I can't access the Vista computer from any of my XP computers.

1. I have discovery enabled along with file sharing enabled and Public Folder Sharing enabled in Vista.
2. All computers are in the same workgroup (no domain used)
3. From XP, I can see the Vista computer in the workgroup (so there's no typo in the workgroup naming), but when I click on the Vista PC from an XP PC, it responds that I don't have permission to access the Vista PC.
4. From Vista, I can't see any computers in the workgroup.
5. I tried making my admin password the same for both the Vista and the XP computer. No help.
6. I tried creating a shared folder in Vista, adding a user with the same name as my network ID for the XP Pc. This didn't help. I added guest and everyone, selected SHARE, and it reported that it could not share the folder.

My network configuration is that I have a cable modem to a router for DHCP then from the router to a 16 port switch. I can access the internet fine from the Vista system, and I can access all other PC's from XP PC to XP PC (Just not from Vista). This is so frustrating.
