I have a brand new network running SBS 2003, with 2 Windows Vista Ultimate workstations. On the server, I have created a share C:\Profiles\ and within active directory set the profile path to \\server\profiles\%username% First I tried to login as a user, but got an error message (see below). I went back to the server, and saw it haddn't created the profile folder, so manually created it. I gave the folder additional security permissions (User = Full Control, System = Full Control). Now even with the folder created, I still get the following error message when logging in: Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you log off. This error may be caused by network problems or insufficient security rights. DETAIL - Access is denied. But I can't understand why - I've given it all the permissions it needs, or at least think I have. Does anyone have any ideas? Many Thanks, |

NEXT: Here are some Microsoft articles that may help. Don't be confused when they reference Windows Server 2003, they still apply to SBS 2003. *Shared Folders: How To Share Files and Folders over the Network in a Windows Server 2003 Domain Environment *Prevent Roaming: How to prevent folders from roaming with a profile in Windows Server 2003 (NOTE: work this one backwards) |
