I used the answers in this posting from this forum: Inspiron 531 Drivers for XP The answers is for the model 531. I figured 531 and 531S are closed enough. I installed the chipsed driver (w/NIC driver), video driver. The only problem I have is with Realtek Audio driver. alc888 sound Realtek Realtek most up-to-date driver version is R 1.76. I installed it ok. No error reported. The installation told me to restart the computer. After restart, there is still no sound. I check in Control Panel, the sound application says that there is "no audio device". I tried to uninstalled R1.76 driver and use an earlier version R1.71 without any success. BTW, the "High Definition Audio Driver Package - KB888111" is already installed. Do I miss something like a proper DirectX version ?, or is there a special way to install Realtek audio driver ? This computer will be used in a radio station and it must have the sound working. I really appreciate any tips from all you experts out there. |
