I've downloaded the Windows XP SP2 patch, the Exchange Server 2003 patch, the Windows Server 2003 patch, TZmove.exe and have the TZEdit Utility. If I apply the Exchange Time Zone Update Tool to all mailboxes on the server, do I still need to apply do the TZMove locally? Microsoft KB article 931667 says: "You do not have to run both the Outlook and Exchange versions of the Time Zone Data Update Tool". This support article - http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...086071033.aspx - also says "All users should download and run the Time Zone Data Update Tool. Alternatively, in environments running Microsoft Exchange, a special version of this tool may be used by IT administrators to update multiple Exchange mailboxes." However, directly below that are Steps to be Taken and Step 4 says "End users use the Time Zone Data Update Tool. IT administrators use the Exchange version of the update tool." So do we or do we not have to run the update tool for Office Outlook on the local workstations? And just to be sure, these are the downloads I have found for the different areas to be patched: Windows Server 2003: WindowsServer2003-KB928388-x86-ENU.exe Windows XP SP2: WindowsXP-KB928388-x86-ENU.exe Update for Exchange 2003: Exchange2003-KB926666-v2-x86-ENU.exe Windows operating systems other than XP SP2: TZEdit.exe Outlook: TZMove.exe Have I missed anything? So tell me, Experts, are we having fun yet? |

Here's a short and sweet version of the info from Preparing for daylight saving time changes in 2007, assuming you're running Exchange 2003 on Server 2003 with recent SP's applied: 1. Create a test calendar item, i.e a meeting for March 15th. 2. Apply the DST OS patches to all servers and workstations, KB 928388. 3. Apply the Exchange patch to all Exchange servers, KB926666. 4. Run the Time Zone update tool against all Exchange mailboxes, KB 930879 (not available as of this evening) 5. Check your test meeting and some other calendar items to make sure they are correct, and you're good to go. One potential gotcha - if you have not yet applied any patches that include the modifications to account SendAs permissions, this patch will include them so you may want to review this KB Users cannot send e-mail messages from a mobile device or from a shared mailbox in Exchange 2000 Server and in Exchange Server 2003. If you happen to be a Blackberry shop, definitely read and follow the procedures for granting the rights the new way. |
