Microsoft: Vista Not the Last Release of Windows as We Know It – Enter Windows 7
Concomitantly with the availability of Microsoft's latest operating system, speculations surrounding the future strategy of the Windows client started contouring, pointing to Vista as the last release of its kind. Microsoft reacted and denied such claims, but only when the Redmond company began work on Windows 7, under the leadership of Steven Sinofsky, Senior Vice President, Windows and Windows Live Engineering Group, did the scenarios
with Vista as the last mammoth release of Windows dissipate.
Tim Sneath, Microsoft Group Manager for Client Platforms, invited Vista users to fill in a survey focused on the existent deployment and configuration technologies, as Microsoft is building the next release of Windows. The Windows Survey on Deploying and Configuring Applications will take an estimated 20 minutes of your time and will enable the Windows development team to understand first hand, via user feedback the experiences around Vista. There is also a hefty $200 credit as a prize for one respondent for the on-line Microsoft store.
"The Windows Application Platform product team would like your feedback to make the management and deployment of applications you develop for Windows better. This survey has questions as to how the applications you create are deployed and managed (e.g. installation, stability, performance, etc). Your feedback will help us identify which activities are important to you and highlight areas for improvement," explained Sneath.
"By offering suggestions through this survey, you give Microsoft full permission to use them freely. We can't guarantee we will use your suggestions, but we will review them for use in future products. If appropriate, we may explore your feedback further. We will not provide compensation for your suggestions submitted through this online survey, though we appreciate your feedback and look forward to building better products with helpful feedback such as yours," reads the introduction to the survey, which you will be able to find here.
