The computing world is currently ablaze with talk of Windows Vista – the successor to Windows XP. Indeed, we here at Computeractive covered how to upgrade to Vista in issue 233.
However, if you’ve decided Vista isn’t for you right now, or indeed ever, there is no reason to miss out on some of the tools offered by the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system. A free program called Desktop Sidebar is a Windows XP tool that provides a place to house shortcuts, links to web favourites, and much more – just like the sidebar in Vista.
If you like the sound of adding a Vista-style toolbar to Windows XP, then pick up a copy of Computeractive issue 234, where you'll find a step-by-step workshop on using this nifty program. So, refer to the magazine and then click to transfer to the
Desktop Sidebar download page.
