NeXuS is the multi-dock system, and is just perfect for super fast access to your most frequently used applications. Each dock can have an infinite number of ‘levels,’ or sub-docks. When not in use, docks can hide behind screen edges or collapse to a single control tile, taking virtually no screen space.

Inside the MachineWorkShelf is a tabbed dock, better suited for complex organizational duties like organizing documents, URLs, movies, work projects, applications, etc… If a dock is the top of your desk, then WorkShelf is all the drawers below it. WorkShelf keeps out of the way by automatically collapsing into a small strip of tabs when not in use.

NextSTART is the menu system - and takes care of all your task management needs as well. Menus are great for accessing infrequently used files and system related commands that aren’t easily reachable in the file system or that have no readily user-recognizable graphic representation. NextSTART is famous for its unmatched flexibility: you can create as many menus as you want, either via drag & drop or the built in Menu Editor, and quickly invoke them by bumping screen edges or corners with your mouse pointer!

The task management abilities of NextSTART are outstanding: for instance, using nothing but drag & drop, you can re-organize the items in your taskbar so that all your related documents and applications are together (thus easier to find) and where you expect them to be, rather than where Windows decided to put them. And if you are left-handed, you can re-organize the objects in your taskbar so that the Start Button sits at the right instead of the usual left!

Inside the MachineModules, widgets, gadgets, docklets, desklets, are all different words to describe the same thing: mini-applications that usually live in your desktop and provide a staggering amount of information regarding your system, the weather, etc… I say ‘usually’ because Winstep modules can also be placed in docks, in the shelf or even inside your taskbar! Winstep Xtreme currently includes the following modules: a speaking Atomic Clock, Recycle Bin, SSL POP3/IMAP Email Checker, Weather Monitor, CPU, Net and RAM Meters, and Wanda, the amazing ‘fortune cookie’ reader. New modules are constantly being added.
