Default Can I uninstall Windows Vista?

You cannot uninstall Windows Vista, but you can reinstall your previous operating system, which then replaces Windows Vista. To reinstall your old operating system, you must have the original installation disc. Back up your programs and files, insert the installation disc into your computer, and then reinstall the old operating system. To regain the hard disk space used by Windows Vista, reformat the disk during the reinstallation process. After reinstalling your previous operating system, reinstall your programs and files.

Default Re: Can I uninstall Windows Vista?

And may I enquire as a new user and a deeply disaffected user of a new Dell machine with Vista pre-installed, how I can remove Vista and install XP as For 2 weeks now, I have been trying to

install windows XP (I have 2 original windows XP).
I decided to reformat my hard disc with the XP CD. I boot the computer from the CD drive but after is loaded a blue screen appear saying that

"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your
Computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer.
If this screen appears again, follow thease steps:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and
terminated. Run chkdisk/f to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer."

Obviously I've tried to reboot with the windows vista cd but that does't give me any option at all (such as format disc) other than repair windows.

Help, please

Wink Re: Can I uninstall Windows Vista?

I always use RE-FORMAT my HD using VISTA INTALL DVD. So, I re-format or DELETE the partitions done by VISTA.

After, exit of INSTALL VISTA DVD. Ready!

So, NO PROBLEM to INSTALL new System as XP or others
