Default Norton vs SpySweeper fight over access to files

Question: I have Norton Antivirus 2005 and SpySweeper (latest version) install on my Windows XP SP2 system.

The Norton "Alerts" log shows numerous attempts by SpySweeper to scan certain files, to which Norton responds by blocking access.

These attempts occur every two or three minutes and last about one second. During that second there are 15 to 20 attempts, all blocked.

Is this impeding my computer's performance? Is this reducing the effectiveness of SpySweeper? Does Norton's spyware protection equal or exceed SpySweeper?

Are you using Spysweeper 5.x with AV and, if so, is the AV activated? It is not wise to run two or more AV products in the same O/S.

Otherwise, you will need to turn off the appropriate shields in Spysweeper to eliminate this conflict. You can still schedule Spysweeper to run a full scan periodically to detect spyware.

I have heard that Norton 2007 insists on the removal of Spysweeper and Zonealarm before installing.
