Default Disabling History

You may hear this type of question alot but here goes:
There is a directory C:\Documents and Settings\<My user name>\Local Settings\History that records aeverything I open\activate\browse to.
I can switch the IE settings to save 0 days in history but its not working (and I use firefox anyway) but the main thing is not only the pages but also the files I run on the computer which are also recorded.
I'v seen alot of history cleaning apps but instead I just want to disable the feature of saving anything at all. how is this managable?

Default Re: Disabling History

Here's a method you can try...

1) Click Start->Run->CMD <Enter>
This will bring up a command window

2) Now type taskkill /f /im iexplore.exe
This will close out all internet explorer sessions

3) Now type taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
This will close the windows explorer

4) Now, type CD /D %userprofile%
This will change the directory to your profile

5) Type cd "local settings\history"
Changes to the History folder

6) Now del desktop.ini by typing del desktop.ini <Enter>

7) Now type md desktop.ini
A folder will be created called desktop.ini inabling Windows from recreating the desktop.ini file

The above process can be repeated for index.dat located in History\History.IE5

Once done, type start explorer to bring back windows explorer...
