Access stops working when I go to the code window

The majority of the times that I attempt to open the code window in Access, my Access application stops working: Access does not go to the code window and I have to shut it down. It is almost the luck of the draw for me how often I get into the code window. It doesn't matter what form/report I am on. I would say as a rough estimate that the code window only opens for me about 25 percent of my attempts, the other times, I have to start Access all over again. I found one article in the solution's search, but it had to do with an error not being able to find the path. This, I don't think, is not my problem.

FYI, I have about 30 tables, 75 queries, 120 forms, and 20 reports. The tables are linked and the file is about 9.5 megs. I am running Windows XP and I am running Access 2002

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Then first thing to try is to create a new empty database and import everything from the old one.
Once you have done that compile the app to make sure there are no errors reported.
Then see if you still have the same problem.
