restore exchange 2003 e-mail

Question: I have employee accidentally turned on auto archiving in her Outlook. When she is trying ot find her e-mail from 6 months ago it is not there now.

I looked at the archive.pst but for some reason no email is in there. I am thinking next option is to restore her e-mails from the server but don't know how to go about doing that.

Please let me know what you think and if restoring e-mail from server is possible and how?

It would help if you indicated what your backup software is, and whether it was a full backup or mailbox backup. If the auto archiving was only recently turned on then you shouldn't have to go back far.

Have you looked in recover deleted items to see if the messages are there?
