What is the best software for remote access

ooking to see if anyone had suggestions for quality remote access software. Looking for something either free or fairly cheap and it doesn't matter if it is a one time purchase or monthly charge. I have never used this before but am looking to integrate it so that I can access client's PC's easier and faster for small troubleshooting distress calls. Any suggestions? I'd be interested in knowing your personal Pro's/Con's as well as any other advice. Most of the computers that I would need to access are personal PC's directly on a ISP LAN or behind a router... Would this affect the remote access at all when dealing with IP addresses?
