Unknown Devices Issue

I have a Gateway MX6025 laptop running XP SP2. The internal Broadcom Wireless adapter suddenly stopped working. Upon checking device manager I noticed that there were 3 devices listed in unknown devices with a yellow exclaimation. Broadcom wireless, Broadcom 10/100 and firewire port. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, downloaded new drivers and no matter what I do these item keep coming back in unknown devices with errors. I have tried several system restores without any luck. I also tried to install an external USB wireless adapter and a PCMCIA Wireless adapter just to get me going again and they seem to install correctly and then endup in the unknown device are with errors and do nto work. Gateway wants me to perform a full recovery, but the recovery partition is not working and they are sending me CD's. But while I wait for the CD's to arrive, does anyone have any other suggestions.

It looks like you are going to have to do a full reinstall - try running "sfc/ scannow" from a comnmand line. (no quotes) - also run sigverif.exe from Start, Run.

How to do a clean installation: Clean Install Windows XP

Backup your data first. Make sure that you delete the old partition first - rather than just installing over the top.
