I need to know what steps would need to be taken to restore a system from these backups if the system disk failed and was replaced with a blank disk. The replacement disk would have nothing on it and I would need to restore the system to the state of the last full backup and overlay the most recent cummulative incremental backup. One additional question for the restore process. Would I be required to use the same size disk or could the restore be done with a larger disk if the failed disk size could not be located? If I need to change the backup parameters, this can be done. But without the ability to restore the backups are worse than useless. |

A larger disk could be used without any type of deviation, but I wouldn't change much more than that. The new and old backups are going to look for the same hardware. Perhaps the best disk recovery system for this would be ghost, and NTBackup.exe. Just like NTBackup.exe ghost looks for the same hardware to perform it's recovery. |
