Windows Safe Mode Load Time Query.

I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition on my laptop. I have always wondered why when accessing into safe mode, it take atleast a few minutes for the thing to load. Probably even more than a few minutes at a time. Is this actually common, or is this a sympton to something maybe wrong with my computer?

When booting into safe mode, you'l notice it takes a while to load the MUP.sys driver... this is perfectly common, and some people have longer load times than others...

There have been many occasions where I have been sat for nearly 15 minutes staring at that last MUP.sys line, and then all of a sudden out of nowhere, safe mode launches.

If it is taking absolutely ages, then it might be worth using PC doctor (or something similar) to scan your hardware and check for any errors... faulty motherboards (memory slots especially) can sometimes be the cause of this driver to struggle (or completely fail) to load.
