I have written a Winsows program which I'll need to update and rollout scripts to update the database, on a controlled schedule. But I don't want to re-invent the wheel if such a program already exists.

Can anybody suggest an existing tool? I'll need to download new versions to a small group, with instructions about whethe to restart with the new version immediately. (Or upon the next re-start the following morning.) Then I'll need to roll it out to more stores when the first rollout was successful.

I'd like feedback when each step was accomplished at each location, or an error for that location.

I know I'm not the first to ned this stuff. Can anyone suggest a tool?

Well I wrote a program a while back which updated itself.

Did you ever consider you apllication connecting FTP to your server
checking a file and comparing with a local version to see which is newer?

Basically I had a local DAT file and the program would call a copy
of the DAT file on the server. It would compare the two, and if the
version number on the remote copy was higher, it would trigger a
download of the new updates, and prompt for a restart if necessary.
