He has other problems as well (mostly with IE) in that sometimes clicking on a link won't do anything (on other sites) but if you right click and "open in new window" the link works and the page/site displays ok (not on this site though, I'm afraid). I tried looking here earlier for a fix to yet another problem he has (IE7 continually opening on the runonce2.aspx page) but because of the above problem, I had to wait until I got back home to look again on my pc. I found a possible fix (this site's a life saver, it really is), but the trouble is we live 80 miles apart, so I will have to wait until I see him again to try it. In the meantime, could anyone offer any advice on what the display problems could be? I can't believe they are settings, as I've tried most everything. I can only guess it's a corrupt or missing file, a security issue or a dodgy registry setting, none of which I am expert enough in to know where to look. |

checked for spyware cleaned out the crap? CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space CCleaner.com I sometimes get this with the white effect but not the red blotchy marks. What version of IE are you using compared to him? Get him to uninstall IE7 and go back to IE6, its not necessary for us to have IE7 any versions as it was originally designed for Longhorn and now Vista. It is not compulsary to install as it has way too many issues. Even after removing it most often times a new clean install is the only way to fix it. Get him to run a directx diagnostic if his display is in trouble it maybe the video card drivers need updating. or the settings he has, go to start run type in dxdiag press enter here is a few other things he can try r/click the desktop properties desktop> customise the desktop> web untick any web addresses. in the internet tools options general>colours use windows Languages use english Internet Explorer 7 running side by side with IE6.
