The problem is, if the pagefile was recreated on a different drive, you would have to once again move it to the external drive. One solution that works very well for me is to place the file in a dedicated partition. In my case I do this on a secondary drive. I also point my temp files and internet cache to that drive, same partition. A separate partition on the same drive is good, but you will not experience a performance gain. This is why I use a second hard drive (actually have 4 drives in each machine). So, in short, the external drive idea is not optimal. It may not cause a big problem but is more likely to be a problematic configuration. |
