1. rename ftutil2.dll in \Windows\System32\ folder to something else, perhaps ftutil2.old 2. start the registry editor by clicking Start, type REGEDIT in the Run dialog box off the Start Menu and hitting the Enter key. 3. Look for the ftutil2 key in the "folder" of the left pane of Regedit that is called: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run You do that by clicking on the + signs next to each part of the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and SOFTWARE and Microsoft and Windows and CurrentVersion and Run 4. Now after the key has been entirely opened up, click in the left pane on that last subkey, "Run", in order to bring up its contents in the right pane of Regedit. Find whatever key it is that references ftutil2.dll 5. Left click on that key (in the right pane of Regedit, under the "Name" column.) 6. Click on the File menu in Regedit and select Export... 7. When the Export Registry File dialog box comes up, make sure there is a dot next to Selected branch in the Export Range field, and that it contains the right key. Choose an appropriate place to save the file (say "My Documents", for example) and click the Save button. That "exports" the key so that it can be imported again if deleting the key makes the problem worse. 8. You can then delete the key containing "ftutil2.dll" by right clicking it (under the Name column in the righthand pane of the Regedit window) and selecting Delete from the context menu that scrolls out. 9. Then close Regedit and reboot to see if your error message is gone. If the error message is gone, then you can delete ftutil2.old from \Windows\System32\ folder. |
