upgrading Dell inspiron notebook hard drive with Ghost 10.0

I have a dell inspiron 8500 with a hitachi 30gb 2.5" drive. I want to upgrade to a samsung 100GB 2.5" drive.
I bought Norton Ghost 10.0, and an IDE- to USB adapter and case. Hooked up the Samsung 100GB on the USB,
ran Ghost (from the desktop), clicked backup > copy my hard drive with Hitachi(30gb) as source, Samsung (100gb) as dest.
selected "copy MBR" switch, along with check source/dest errors, and skip smart sector copy.
It ran for a few hours, got to 98%, then ran another 10+ hrs, before getting to complete. I hit close, and
put the samsung 100GB into the notebook slot. windows XP booted, and I got to the user login page. Put in password,
the system "thought" for a bit, then put up the logout/shutting windows down" screen, and then went of to reboot.
Tried a wrong password, and it complained the password was incorrect. How do I get access to my login on the new hard drive?
