How can I reclaim space when Partition Magic doesn't recognize "drive letters"?

I installed XP and didn't utilize all the space of my hard drive. Consequently, when I try to use PQ 8 to deal with it, it reports an error re: unable to recognize drive letters. Symantec refers to solutions geared towards the Window 98-era.

Aside from re-installing the OS, is there somehting I can do in repair, or some other utility that can allow me to reclaim this 13 gig space? I really want to extend C: to include that space and Disk Management doesn't allow this

try bootit-ng
boot from floppy or cd, do NOT install it on the disk (hit Esc)
select partition work, and use the slider to extend your partition
