Question: I have one pair of drives that I need to enter my password to get into xp.

The other pair which has xpsp2 does not require it.

It asks me about once a month to renew the password and I just type in the same password. I have full administrative rights since this is a home PC. I just do not want to run into a situation where it will not let me in because I forgot to renew the password. Most of my work is done on the other pair of HDS.

To change the password to never expire.

* Right click My Computer
* Select Manage
* Go to Local Users and Groups/Users
* Right-click on user to change
* Select Properties
* On General tab, check Password never expires
* Click OK

To allow logging in without a password... (Do not recommend)

* Click Start
* Click Run
* Enter gpedit.msc
* Click OK
* Select Computer configuration
* Select Windows Settings
* Select Security Settings
* Select Local Policies
* Select Security Options
* Double click on Accounts
* Disable the option Limit local account use of blank passwords to console login only
