Where can i go to find the following:

1) OS installed
2) current user logged in
3) list of programs launched automatically

Hmm - username may be a bit more of a struggle as I believe it's stored in SID format.
However, you can get close by checking the profile in the volatile environment...

hkcu\volatile environment\homepath

would point to
\documents and settings\'username'
