Installation of MS Works produces Component Transfer Error

I have an Hp pavilion ze5600 that apparently had a virus, I reinstalled XP (no issues) and then attempted to reinstall the MSWorks recovery disk provided by HP. It gets to the point where it installs about 26% of the app and then stalls giving the following error:

Component Transfer Error
Component: Main App
File Group: App Executables
File: D:\01\data2.cab
error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

This computer belongs to my data entry clerk and it is her personal machine. I would love to get it fixed for her. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!

you can try the turtle wax trick. Just get some car wax and wax the bottom of the cd like you would your car. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
