Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk And Press Enter

Im working on a Compaq Presario SR1500AN that occasionaly freezes forcing you to do a soft power shutdown. When the computer restarts it has a Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter error. The hard disk is brand new but the problem still occured with the old hard disk. Any thoughts?

The system is running Windows XP with I think SP2

Could be some problems either with the connectors from mobo to hd or your Mobo, have you tried to use different cables to connect this hard-drive?

Also try to re-check your bios settings.
