Following a complete re-install of XP and format of the HDD a month ago today my laptop auto rebooted following an error and gave the following message on reboot:
BCCode : 1000007f BCP1 : 00000008 BCP2 : 80042000 BCP3 : 00000000
BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 1_0 Product : 768_1
I have spoken to Microsoft (who can’t help me because I bought XP from my computer suplier). I can't find any info on this particular error on their website.

By searching the internet I found one person who thinks it may be due to not having enough power to the system to run all the hardware. I am running mouse and keyboard via USB and the CD/DVD drive and soundcard etc. Does this sound a likely cause - or a lot of rubbish?

Looking forward to hearing form you,
