I have a 5 month old DELL XPS 400. I have lots of digital photo files (only some backed up to a separate hard drive), video files and Vectorworks drafting files & my Quickbooks bookkeeping files......so I am very freaked out right now!! PLEASE HELP!! While trying to upload photos from my new Finepix F30 camera (after installing software), the system shut down cold turkey. I never did get the system to recognize the USB connection directly from the camera--- which is weird in itself. I am assuming this is somehow related. I had no choice put to power-off the tower. When I tried to power up, here's what I got: Checking file system on C: The type of file system is NTFS The volume is dirty. (what does that mean?!?) CHKDSK is verifying files (stage 1 of 3) File verification is completed. CHKDSK is verifying indexes (stage 2 of 3) .....and it stops at 24% (did this twice & it stopped in the same place) I tried to start up the system in SAFE MODE by hitting CTR+F8 from a cold boot....but it goes right into Windows XP & the CHKDSK thing. I turn to the gurus of Experts Exchange.....please save me! Solution While researching about the problem with STOP error 0xD1 and "iastor.sys", I found this page: http://www.ydeologi.com/2006/04/26/d...de-0x000000d1/ |
