have an HP laptop which is incredibly slow to boot up... it is is 1 GB Ram and used to be a lot faster. here are the steps i have taken so far.... Ran numerous spy ware programs in normal and safe mode to clear any possible spyware... ran antivirus checks from 3 different companies in normal and safe mode...all clear.... ran msconfig and disabled everything disabled all network cards... ran diskeeper defrag... it was in a bad way but is fine no... i currently have 20 GB free...i am currently running nod32 AV machine boots relatively ok in safe mode but it still slower than it should be.... soln How is it once fully booted to gui? I would run Process Explorer first to see if anything is hogging the CPU http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilitie...sExplorer.html Also, run Memtest86 to check out your RAM (should be fine, just precautionary) http://www.memtest86.com There is definately either a service('s), drvivers('s) as stated above or process('s) causing it to happen since Safe mode seems normal |
