Default Windows XP Memory Problem

Question
I have just upgraded my system memory to 3GB. I also have a friend that upgraded his to 4GB. I know about the limits Windows XP has & both of our are showing only 2 GB in Windows Property screen. We've updated Windows to SP2 & are up to date on all other updates. We have tried the /PAE & the /3GB switches in the boot.ini without any solution.

I would like to know if Windows will never show the correct memory over 2GB, is there a way I can make sure the extra memory is being used by the applications? Or is there a utility that will show the correct memory while running in Windows? We both use Adobe Premier 2 & a couple of other memory intensive apps & would like to be at least reasonably sure they are using this other memory.

Thanks so much!!

Solution
When you open task manager on the performance tab have a look at the Physical Memory section. Look at the available and system Cache. Add these 2 numbers together and you should get (about) your total ram. (it's almost imposible to get both numbers at the same time without it changing on you.) This will tell you how much memory windows is using.

You might want to open a cpl of your memory intensive apps before checking.
