By default XP displays compressed or encrypted files and folders with a unique color. If you are a heavy users of these features, this highlighting can be painful on the eyes. Here is how to disable it.

Typically XP displays files and folders with encryption or compression with a unique font color. Although this can be helpful, many users find it ugly. Here is how to disable it.

1. Open explorer through some method. (Clicking the My Computer icon, for example.)
2. Click the Tools menu
3. Click Folder Options
4. Select the View tab
5. Uncheck the Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color
6. Click OK
