I just installed a teac dw224e external USB drive. I can read CD's just fine. I can write CD-R's just fine. However, I cannot format CD-RW disks. If I right-click on the drive in "My Computer", I do not get an option to Format. What am I doing wrong? If I put a used CD-RW disk in I can erase the files but I cannot format it.

Have you tried to format them using the burning software supplied by the cd-r vendor? Such as Nero, or Roxio? I have never formated a CD-RW using windows. (to tell you the truth, i never trusted it.) Try installing Nero and Roxio then formating the CD.

This will still allow you to copy files to the CD like your used to with explorer.
