I've tried: safe mode, last known good configuration, debugging mode, safe mode with command prompt.. all give the same result. I read about a way to hit ctrl-alt-delete twice at the welcome screen to get a command line method of logging in, but I could not get that to work either. Is there a file or files I can copy from another XP machine to the problem machine to get this thing to log in? Is this a known virus, or what? I had a similar case on XP Home Ed. where I got users listed in login screen, but clicking any of them and entering password never got you in. I even did an OS repair on that one, thinking some system files were corrupt, but that didn't even work, I ended up with the same problem. I had to reinstall that OS from scratch (format HD, then install XP) ... is it possible this case is as bad as that? Soln yeah coz u know its a known issue that after running Adaware for removal of wsaupdater.exe users looses the ability to login,,,,, and there is a fix available on their site,,, but this site is, I dont know why, is DOWN >> http://www.lavahelp.com/articles/v6/04/06/0901.htmlBut still i copied this from another post which is the way to replace the userinit.exe back, thru Recovery Console... ================================================== ============ Boot with XP CD, and press R to enter Recovery Console..... choose ur os installtion and then enter ur Administrator password if ask and write the following lines.... C:\windows type 'cd system32' the directory should now be C:\windows\system32 type 'copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe' 1 file should be copied, now REBOOT! Remember to spell "wsaupdater.exe" correctly. ================================================== ========================= check if it can solve the issue for u or not ?? |
