Mouse Problem - Left clicking brings up "Properties"

Question
Double left clicking on any icon always brings up the related properties box for that particular icon. If I double click on "My Computer" I get the properties for "My Computer; if I double click on the "Recycle Bin" I get the properties for the "Recycle Bin" etc...

What might be causing this?

Have you checked the settings in the Mouse control panel?

Also, does this happen in Safe Mode? Or with your Startup Items disabled in msconfig?
