Default Zune Software: How to Edit the Song Data

It never fails, due to a typo or software snafu, some songs in your collection have incorrect information for the artist, album, genre, etc. This can make it difficult when you are trying to find that song you are looking for, setting up a playlist, or sharing music (not to mention that it doesn't look right). You can edit the song data from within the Zune software by doing the following:

Open your Zune software and go to the music section under collection.

From the browse view: (this is for a quick fix to a single artist, album or song tag)

To make a change to the artist:

1. Find the artist name that is to be changed in the Artists list in the first column on the left.

2. Right-click the artist name and select Edit from the menu.

The artist name will be highlighted in red.

3. Input the correct information.

4. Press Enter on your keyboard.

To make a change to the album:

1. Find the album name that is to be changed in the Albums list in the middle column.

2. Right-click the album name and select Edit from the menu.

The album name will be highlighted in red.

3. Input the correct information.

4. Press Enter on your keyboard.

To make a change to the song:

1. Find the song name that is to be changed in the Songs list in the third column.

2. Right-click the song name and select Edit from the menu.

The song name will be highlighted in red.

3. Input the correct information.

4. Press Enter on your keyboard.

From the list view: (this works well for having to make multiple changes to many fields, plus it gives you the ability to edit all fields, not just artist, album and song)

1. Go to the right side of the window, beneath the Search box and select list.

2. Right-click on the field that needs to be changed and select Edit.

The text in the field will be highlighted in red.

3. Input the correct information.

4. Press Tab on your keyboard until the next field you need to edit is highlighted. Make the needed changes. Repeat this until all changes are made.

5. Press Enter on your keyboard.
