Let me tell about my story...... i have a NOKIA 6020 mobile phone. i can browse internet in the phone. the phone has the following settings for AirTel's mobile office subscription... proxy : enable security: normal proxy address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ( // xxx are numbers) port: 8080 and i am happy to browse in the phone but i can not browse it in the PC( Windows XP without SP2 installed)... and getting errors while connecting via PC. BUT surprising thing is that the AirTel's SIM is working fine in a SAMSUNG SET with "EASY GPRS" software . this PROVES that the the subscription is fully functioning for both phone and PC. there is no doubt about it. only problem is that i am not able to browse it in the PC. there are 2 different way i have tried it. Procedure 1 ======== this is the first procedure i had tried with the NOKIA PC SUITE 6.5 software.....i installed this software , and follwed each steps . and after that I transfered some files(pictures) from the phone. this proves phone is connected with PC..right ? But as soon as i clicked "Connect to Internet " from PC SUITE MENU option i got error " could not connect to device....network...." i tried to solve reading manual....but failed. no success. Procedure 2 ======== after that i uninstalled Nokia PC SUITE 6.5 and decided to use a dial-up connection for getting internet. so, i followed the link..... the::unwired - where mobility meets wireless ( of course i downloaded the Modem driver NOKIA 6020 from nokia site itself and usued that in this procedure) i tried to put initialization string also like ... AT+cgdcont=1,"IP","airtelgprs.com","",0,0 ----> no success AT+cgdcont=1,"IP","airtelgprs.com","0.0.0.0",0,0 ----> no success AT+cgdcont=1,"XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX","airtelgprs.com","0 .0.0.0",0,0 ----> no success (// where XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX are proxy address set in my phone). and dial up number : *99***1# ---> no success *99***2# ---> no success *99***3# ---> no success couple of errors i have got are... error xxx: remote machine is not responding..... error 777: remote comp's modem might be out of order... i am really in a confused state what to do ? can u help ? |

No.... It is in good state and that is why you can browse on your phone.... Though not sure about the cable etc. >>2)how to check modem is good condition or not ? do i need to check "Modem Query" ? Yes Modem Query is one of the methods by which you can check a modem.... In my opinion it is the best method to check a modem... After clicking on Query Modem you should get no error message and in the list you will get Command | Respond on the same page you hit Query modem.... So most probably you have not set the correct port for your modem.... Is it Com1 or Com4? i.e Is your modem connected on the USB-Serial Adapter or Com1 and in settings of modem which port is selected???You can check this by Control Panel | Phone and Modem Options | and then Modem Tab.... Is this the same port on which your actual Phone is attached? If No then please change it to the correct port.... |
