I am going to buy SonyErricsson GR-47 GPRS modem, but I want to know, does it have support PPP or I have to buy a PPP chip ?? I mean, can I request http address directly from the GR-47 modem by AT commands ?

CEP AG

"the GR47/GR48 features an intrinsic TCP/IP protocol stack that enables you to make effective use of GPRS. "

Does that answer your question? TCP/IP stack should include PPP - it nearly always does. However, your interface provided by manufacturer doesn't interact with the PPP layer, just the application layer. You shouldn't need to issue any PPP commands directly - just maybe a configuration or two, like setting the authentication parameters etc.

That said, the link above doesn't have valid documentation links. The zip files are not readable there. If you register as developer on Ericsson Mobility world, you can get the most recent Data sheet and perhaps the AT command set and Integrators manual also. You really need those last 2 docs to figure out if this modem is going to suit your application purposes.

A designers/integrators manual (older one) can be found here:
http://www.elettronicashop.com/manua...Guidelines.pdf
and a summary of the stack and AT commands is at
http://www.elettronicashop.com/manua...escription.pdf
and the full AT command set is also there,
http://www.elettronicashop.com/manua...nds_Manual.pdf
Check the Ericsson proprietary AT commands for IP, e.g. AT*E2IPA "M2M IP Activate"
