GSM,CDMA and Cellular systems

May I know what is GSM,CDMA and Cellular systems. In what purpose they are useful and what is difference between them. Please don`t give me the definitions and try to explain it clearly.

Cellular systems use technologies such as GSM, CDMA, TDMA, and AMPS to transmit and recieve phone calls. Each technology uses different techniques to make the most use of the small frequency band given to cellular phone companies.
