Default Firefox: Easily Share Google Reader Articles with Twitter

If you use Google Reader, you've probably come across interesting articles that you want to share with your friends via Twitter. You could go to Twitter and mess with copying and pasting the article info to post to your Twitter account, which could be very time consuming if you have a lot of articles to share. Thanks to a Greasemonkey script, you can easily share your Google Reader articles with Twitter from Google Reader and accomplish each post with just a few clicks of the mouse.

You need to have the Greasemonkey Firefox extension installed. You can get it here.

1. Open Firefox and go here.

2. To install the Google Reader + Twitter script, click the Install this script button on the right of the page.

3. A Greasemonkey Installation window will appear, displaying the name of the script and the pages it runs on. Click Install.

4. Go to Google Reader.

5. Find an article you wish to share on Twitter.

6. At the bottom of the article, click Share with Twitter.

7. A box will appear with the title of the article and url already filled in.

8. To reduce the amount of characters used so that it can be accepted by Twitter, click the TinyURL button.

9. Once you have your TinyURL for the article, fill in any Tag and/or Note info you wish to include in your Tweet and click the Save button.

10. An Authentication Required box will appear. Fill in your Twitter User Name and Password. Click the Use Password Manager to remember this password checkbox so that you won't have to fill this in every time. Click OK.

Now go to your Twitter home page and you will see the article info posted for all to see.
