On my laptop, everything works fine. I can see the domain, I am able to remove and join the domain fine. Everything resolves fine. Even after I re-installed the domain. So for now, it doesn't look like the problem is on the server. On my XP Pro machine, I can ping the machine either by IP or by the complete name (server.domain.com). NSLOOKUP is resolving without problems. I do not see the domain at all when I browse the entire neighborhood. The only error I see in the event log is that the Computer Browser service has stopped due to a timeout. When I try to join the domain, again I use the complete domain name. I am able to get up to the username/prompt without an error. But once I enter the username and password it comes back with the following error. "The network location cannot be reached." My hardware has not changed. I did not touch the server configuration prior to the problem I'm experiencing. I just applied Service Pack 2 on the server, but that didn't fix anything. So really, the only changes I've made have simply been the security patches. |

Browse to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControl If you see a key named SMBDeviceEnabled delete it. Then manually add / change "TrasportBIndNAme" and change parameters to: \Device\ It's worked before, and will work again. Give it a go. Also if that's unsuccessful, you could try a basic Winsock fix. But try above first. |
