Getting rid of the AUTOEXEC.NT error

Tested and works!

With some files, there are errors regarding the repair file AUTOEXEC.NT. It can really get on your nerves. So, I'm here to rescue you today with a way to fix this.


AUTOEXEC.NT
1) First of all, you need your Windows XP CD. This fix regards Windows XP Professional and XP Home Edition. Just put your Windows XP CD in your disk drive and exit out of the window that comes up asking you what you would like to do(Uninstall Windows, etc.)

2) Go into Windows Explorer and navigate to C:WINDOWSrepair and find AUTOEXEC.NT. Now open a new Windows Explorer and navigate to C:WINDOWSsystem32.
Copy AUTOEXEC.NT into system32.

3) Now, go into the Command Prompt by going into "Run..." and typing cmd. Now click "OK". With your Windows XP CD still in the disk drive, type the following:


expand D:i386autoexec.nt_ c:windowssystem32autoexec.nt



Usually the Disk Drive of your Windows XP CD is "D:", but if it isn't just change it. Find out what disk drive your Windows XP CD is by going to My Computer, under Devices with Removable Storage.

It might ask you if you want to replace the AUTOEXEC.NT files, if so say yes. If not, either way it worked unless Command Prompt picked up an error.
